HANOVER – Norma Jean (May) Slaybaugh, 85, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at UPMC in Hanover. She was the loving wife of Donald R. Slaybaugh, to whom she was married for 68 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Reverend Donald R. Slaybaugh, Jr. officiating. Prior to the service, there will be a viewing from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Suburban Memorial Gardens. Born August 27, 1936 in York, Mrs. Slaybaugh was a daughter of the late Roy J. and Nellie M. (Crist) May. Mrs. Slaybaugh was always a very active person, from helping with the Girl Scouts, teaching VBS at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, and volunteering in her community at SpiriTrust Lutheran – Utz Terrace. While at Utz Terrace, Mrs. Slaybaugh would help with Bingo nights, and aid residents with any activities that were going on. Mrs. Slaybaugh loved to be in her garden, and admiring all the flowers that grew. She will always be remembered for her beautiful, loving, and caring personality. Mrs. Slaybaugh leaves behind her husband, Donald R. Slaybaugh; three sons, Donald R. Slaybaugh, Jr. (Kathy), Richard Slaybaugh (Laura), and Mark Slaybaugh; a daughter, Kimberly Fuhrman (Geoffrey); eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; four step great great grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Singley. Mrs. Slaybaugh is preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Wolfgang; and three brothers, James Ruth, Sterling Ruth, and Melvin Ruth.
