Norma J. Toot" (Shelly) Wertz

SPRING GROVE - Norma J. "Toot" (Shelly) Wertz, 81, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at York Lutheran Home at Sprenkle Drive. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Wertz. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her visitation pastor, The Rev. Diane G. Wenthe officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Thursday and 1-2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born March 4, 1929 in York a daughter of the late Edward M. and Daisy M. (Bahn) Shelly, she had worked at Barton's Bakery, Tremont Seafood, Shelly's Lounge, and then retired after 10 years of service from Doe Spun, Inc., in 1991. Mrs. Wertz had attended North York High School and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. "Toot" enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Wertz is survived by a niece and her family with whom she lived, Lori and husband Anthony Villareal, and their children, Austin and Alec Villareal of Spring Grove; a brother, Robert Shelly of York; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Edward, and Phillip Shelly; and three sisters, Esther Barton, Anna Landis, and Eleanor Weinstein.
