Norma Ilene (Hamilton) Vasellas

RED LION- Norma Ilene (Hamilton) Vasellas, 95, passed away on March 8, 2022 at Emerald Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Elizabethtown. She was the wife of the late Horace F. Vasellas who passed away on August 6, 1992. The couple had been married for 49 years. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Red Lion Cemetery, East Gay St. Extended, Red Lion with Pastor Tim Funk and Pastor Luke Harbaugh officiating. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on October 21, 1926 in York, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Rhoda (Gemmill) Hamilton, Sr. Norma was a graduate of Red Lion Area High School and Millersville University. She taught elementary level students and ended her career after several years of teaching at Dallastown Middle School. Norma was very active in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Red Lion. She was a lifelong member of the church choir and spent a life with a passion for music. Genealogy was important to her. She was a member of the DAR, DAC and DUV where she served in many offices in each. Her dedication to education continued as a 16-year member of the Red Lion Area School Board. Mrs. Vasellas is survived by her children Kathy Vasellas and Jay Vasellas (Ronda); seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Rider; infant son, Horace Jr.; her sister, Joan Hamilton Shafer; and a brother, Robert L.
