Red Lion—Nevin W. “Buck” Horne, Jr., died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his residence in Windsor Township. He was the husband of Joyce A. (Johnson) Horne with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Monday, March 10, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey, officiating. Viewings will be held from 5-7 PM, Sunday and 9-10 AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens where a flag folding ceremony will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born August 19, 1933 in Windsor Township, he was a son of the late Nevin W. “Nep” Horne, Sr., and Martha E. (Hake) Horne. Buck was the former owner and 2nd generation of the Horne Family to operate Horne’s Body Shop on E. Broadway in Red Lion. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member the Red Lion American Legion and V.F.W. He loved his community, willing to help in whatever capacity he was needed and always did so with a big smile on his face. For years he drove ambulance for Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home. In the 70's he worked with local businessmen in the community on a fund raising drive to raise creation capital to establish Red Lion Area Ambulance Association. In addition to his wife, Mr. Horne is survived by five sons, Nevin W. Horne III and wife, Kathy of Red Lion, Steve A. Horne and wife, Joni of Wrightsville, Bradley B. Horne and wife, Nan of Dover, Michael S. Horne and wife, Bonnie Stambaugh of Windsor and Timothy W. Horne and wife, Melissa of Windsor; six grandchildren, Tad, Andrew, Dylan, Hayden, Trey and Tanner; one sister, Doris Knaper of Red Lion; step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Red Lion Ambulance Assoc., 312 Horace Mann Ave., Red Lion, Pa 17356 or Leo Fire Company, 201 W. Broadway, Red Lion Pa 17356.
