Nelson Delavan

Lock Haven - Nelson DeLavan, 68 of Castanea, passed away at his residence. He was born November 23, 1939 in Lubbock, TX the son of the late Terrell and Mildred (Ash) DeLavan. He graduated in 1958 from Monterey High School, Lubbock Texas where he was a member of the track and field team and a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Texas Tech. University in 1963 as a history major where he received a BS of Arts. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity Professor DeLavan taught history at Lock Haven University from 1968 until his retirement in 2001. He served as department chair from 1993- 2001. He took several sabbatical leaves to Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean to enhance his educational skills. Nelson also was a member of the Lock Haven pool league. Surviving are two nieces and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
