Nellie Violet (Parr) Abreght

YORK- Nellie V. (Parr) Abreght, 91, died Saturday August 1, 2009 at Manor Care North. She was the loving wife of the late Lehman Abreght who passed away March 25, 1997. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday August 6, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. Dwayne L. Cambell officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born August 8, 1917 in York, a daughter of the late Grover and Mary (Adams) Parr. Mrs. Abreght worked for various companies as a tobacco stemmer and retired from Yorkana Cigar Co. She enjoyed Bingo, word search, table games, and reading. Nellie was a faithful attendee of Golden Agers Sunday School Class at First Assembly of God. Mrs. Abreght leaves a son, Donald and wife, Jean of York; three grandchildren, Mark Ruby of York, Michael Ruby and wife, Lena of Maryville, Tn., and Troy Abreght of Mt. Wolf; one great grandchild, Joshua of Littlestown; one sister, Evelyn Irwin of York and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was a daughter, JoAnn Ruby; a brother, Grover Cleveland Parr; and two sisters, Anna Doll and Betty Shirey.
