Nelda V. (Stokes) Smeltzer

Nelda V. (Stokes) Smeltzer, 83, died on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ronald E. Smeltzer who died on October 23, 1996. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Salem Community Cemetery. The service will be live streamed at HeffnerCare.com by searching Nelda’s obituary. Born on February 5, 1939 in Lucky, she was a daughter of the late Stewart Stokes and Mary (Kline) Stokes Grafton. Nelda worked for Jason’s Shirt Factory, Dentsply, Roanna Girl and Zero Restriction over the years. Mrs. Smeltzer enjoyed gathering and playing cards with her friends, going on trips, knitting, gardening and traveling to the beach. She was blessed with wonderful friends. Nelda is survived by her son, Lance Smeltzer and his wife, Donna of Red Lion; two daughters, Ronalda “Ronni” Smith of Red Lion and Dominic Deimler of Middleton, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Raynard Grafton and his wife, Peggy of Dover and Keith Grafton of Lucky. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Area Senior Center, 2427 Craley Rd., Wrightsville, PA 17368. The family would like to send a special thank you to all of Nelda’s caregivers over her last final months.
