Nelda R. Sperling

POTTSVILLE- Nelda R. Sperling, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday evening at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. Born in Hazleton on December 27, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Nelda Steibing Ganss, formerly of Conyngham, PA. She graduated in 1939 from Hazleton Senior High School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. She was pas president of the Pottsville Lionettes, past president of the PP&L Reddie wives, a 50 year member of the Orwigsburg Chapter #424, Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Senior Citizen’s Van Group of Trinity Lutheran Church. Nelda was married to Harry E. Sperling for 53 years before he passed away on April 22, 1995. Nelda is survived by four daughters, Nelda K. Fetters, wife Eben G., Prescott, AZ, Sharon Bowler, wife of Stuart, Lynchburg, VA, Melanie Fels, wife of Mark, of Pottsville and Cherie Bock, wife of Duane, of King George, VA; her 7 grandchildren; her 9 great grandchildren; her sister, Emily Walck, of Conyngham, PA. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3rd & West Arch Sts., Pottsville. Reverend Darcy Reis will officiate. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service in the church’s Sunday School Room. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to either the Senior Coordinator Fund or the Senior Citizen’s Van Group of Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 West Arch Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.
