Ned L. Joralemon

Ned L. Joralemon, 88, of Sylvania, PA, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Alice M. (Comfort) Joralemon. The couple married December 25, 1949, and had 61 happy years together. The graveside service to honor Neds life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Bradford County Memorial Park, on Route 6 in Luthers Mills with Rev. Kenneth Marple officiating. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 Main Street, Troy, PA, has been trusted with the arrangements. Ned was born on May 3, 1922 in Troy, PA, son of the late Lee W. and Florence L. (Webler) Joralemon. He was a long time farmer in Troy and also worked at GTE/ Sylvania in Towanda retiring in 1987. After retirement, Ned s hobby was working in his small engine and lawn repair shop in Sylvania. He enjoyed plowing snow and watching NASCAR on TV. Growing up on the family farm, Ned used draft horses to do the farm work, and he never lost his interest in horses. Ned was always helping others. He enjoyed the times friends would stop into the shop to see him. Noted for his humor and generosity, he will be sorely missed. Ned is survived by his wife Alice, his daughter Alice Marie (Jack) Joralemon-Strong of Zion, IL, his sisters: Irene Miles of Horseheads, NY, Vera Sergio of Sidney, NY, and Marjorie Oldroyd of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, several nieces and nephews, and his feline companion Dusty. Ned was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rex Joralemon, and his sisters: Julia Dunbar, Rena Vinson Monroe, and Ethel Summers. Memorial contributions may be made in Neds memory to the Bradford County Humane Society, US Highway 220, Ulster, PA 18850 or to the animal shelter of ones own choosing.
