MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Nancy M. Woodward, 75, of York, formerly of Pottsville, died Monday, August 23, 2008 at her residence. A celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. A time of gathering will follow at 4 p.m. at the Outdoor Country Club in York. Nancy was born in Pottsville on April 2, 1933, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Seiders) Woodward. She graduated from Pottsville High School and received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees' in Art Education from Penn State. She came to York to begin a teaching career with the central York School District where she primarily taught elementary art classes in all seven elementary centers in the district. During her teaching career she supervised more than 20 student teachers and also taught at the York and Middletown campuses of Penn State. Since retiring from teaching Nancy has worked in advertising at Creative Partners and with The Wit Agency, Ltd. She has attended classes at the York Art Association for a number of years and has served as an Association Director, Treasurer, second Vice President and President. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Outdoor Country Club in York. Nancy and her brother, Ed, have had very successful shows at the York Art Association and she has exhibited at the York Little Theater and Sprenkle Village. Her work appeared on the York Chamber of Commerce calendars in both 1999 and 2000. Her works are also in many private collections in York. Nancy leaves a brother, Ed Woodward and his wife Alice of York; a longtime friend and companion, Dave Schad of York; friends Bert and Cindy Yanushonis; three nieces: Margie Farabaugh and her husband Pat of Monroeville, Susan Miller of Etters, and Julie Lewis and her husband George of York; a nephew John Woodward and his wife Tami of York; and great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York Art Association, Inc., 220 S. Marshall St., York, PA 17402.
