Nancy J. Breakey

YORK- Nancy J. (Bothwell) Breakey, 89, of Manchester Township, passed away on April 4, 2024 at her residence with her family by her side.

Nancy was born in Johnstown PA on August 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Harry and Adelaine (Gavura) Bothwell. She retired from Met Life Insurance Company, where she was a compensation clerk for 22 years in Johnstown. Prior to that she worked as an office clerk at Woolworth’s in Westmont PA.

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown High School. She had a love for animals, gardening and baking for her family. She bowled in a league and most of all loved spending time with her family.

Nancy leaves a son, Forrest H. Breakey and his wife Deborah of Garner, NC; two daughters, Angela L. Senft of York and Karen I. Nugent and her husband Evan of York; nine grandchildren, Michael Balon, Apryl Balon, Joshua Nugent, Stephen Breakey, Matthew Nugent, Amanda Breakey, Chris Nugent, Jason Smith, and Katie Nugent, as well as 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Mazzarese and Hilda Jansson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Hospice Service, 101 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603 or SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.

Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
