SAYRE,PA-Nadine Gladys (Williams) Harrell, born December 29th, 1919, passed away on February 6, 2008 as a patient of the Robert Packer Hospital, in-hospital Hospice program. Prior to her stay in the hospital, Nadine had been a resident at the Towanda Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home. Nadine was born and raised in Wheatland, Indiana. She married Allen Dale Harrell in 1945 and began a life of adventure in the United States Air Force. Nadine and Dale's journey together allowed them to reside in Illinois, Alabama, Arizona, Italy, Colorado, Texas, Turkey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Following Dale's death in 1983, Nadine moved to Troy, Pennsylvania where she remained a resident until 1995 when she moved to Towanda, Pennsylvania due to failing physical health. Always a student of Bible history and archeology, Nadine traveled extensively wherever she lived. Her most exciting trips included exploring ancient ruins in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and the Holy Lands. Nadine further expanded her life journey following Dale's death. She instigated many Elder Hostel Trips among her many friends in Troy. Some of her more memorable trips included travels to Greece, Switzerland, Hawaii and Alaska. The United Methodist Church was a huge part of Nadine's life. She taught all levels of Sunday school, where she was appreciated for her intellect and in-depth study. Nadine also held every leadership position available in the church including United Methodist Women President, Council of Churches representative, World Day of Prayer leader and others. Nadine's closest friendships most frequently resulted from her church involvements. In addition, Nadine was a life member of Eastern Star. Nadine was predeceased by her husband and infant son, Dennis Ray Harrell. She is survived by brother, Vincent Snider of Lutz, Florida; sister, Dorothy Lagle of Wheatland, Indiana; son Steven Allen Harrell of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; daughter Mary Engle of Ruskin, Florida and daughter Pat Webb (Guire) of Troy, Pennsylvania. Nadine?s also predeceased grandchildren Erick Harrell, Joseph Costello, Christine Maraghy, Michael Costello, Kerin Engle, Thomas Engle, Anika Webb, Melina Webb and great-grandchildren Hailey Harrell, Cole and Jack Costello and Emma Maraghy. Services will be held on Friday, February 8th at the First United Methodist Church of Troy, 205 Redington Ave., Troy, PA. Viewing will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 with the service beginning at 3:00. Internment will be at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia at the convenience of the family. The Gerald W. Vickery Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Donations in Nadine's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Troy, 205 Redington Ave., Troy, PA 16947 or the Towanda Memorial Personal Care Home, One Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848.
