N. Jean Prescott

YORK - N. Jean (Bortner) Prescott, 93 passed away on November 1, 2024 at the Inners Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late John R. Prescott to whom she was married for 68 years. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA. Minister Gale Wenk du Pont will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. 

Born October 16, 1931 in York, Jean was the daughter of the late John H. and Iva (Gerberick) Bortner. She was a graduate of York High School and Prowells Business School. She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ where she helped her husband teach Sunday School. She was employed as a dental assistant for 15 years by 1447 Dental Associates. Bird watching was one of Jean’s passions and she was a long serving member of the Audubon Society. She was active along with her husband in the Boy Scouts of America. 

Jean is survived by her son, Steve Prescott and his wife Mary McCauley, daughter Debra Prescott, and grandson Ian Prescott and fiancé Jhovana Preciado. She was proceeded in death by three sisters, Reda Gross, Betty Normand and Dorothy Dressler and three brothers, John Bortner, Robert Bortner and Glenn Bortner.
