Red Lion—Myles L. Gipe, Sr., passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, one day before his 88th birthday. He was the husband of Nora M. (McGuigan) Gipe to whom he was married for 67 years.
Born January 18, 1937 in York, he was the only child of the late Rolandus and Maye (Winters) Gipe. A student at Red Lion High School, he was a standout athlete in football and basketball.
He was employed as a truck driver for many years with various local companies, including Warner’s Dairy, Warner’s Motor Express, Yorktown Kitchens and Leiphart Trucking.
A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Nittany Lions, he was also a member of the Red Lion Jaycees. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who especially loved deer and waterfowl hunting and enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gipe is also survived by four sons, Myles Gipe Jr., Tim Gipe, Todd Gipe and Brett Gipe and his wife, Dana; one daughter, Kerri Gipe; eight grandchildren, Nikki Gipe, Sherry Peck and her husband, Wes, Amanda Gipe, Joshua Gipe, Hannah Gipe, Jonathan Gipe, Austin Gipe and Abby Gipe; two great grandchildren, Andrew Peck and Henry Howard.
A Celebration of Life Tribute will be private at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jay, Ruth, Laura, Blair and all the nurses, aides and staff of Hospice and Community Care for their support, kindness and exceptional care for Myles.
