YORK- Muriel J. (Maiers) Wolbert, 81, passed away Sunday March 22, 2009 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late SGM. John W. Wolbert. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00PM Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Viewings will be held 5-7:00PM Wednesday and 11:00AM-12:00PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 2:00PM, Friday in Sicklerville United Methodist Cemetery in New Jersey. Mrs. Wolbert was born on April 21, 1927 in Newburgh, NY, a daughter to the late Frederick E. and Violette (Goodenough) Maiers. She was a troop leader and volunteer with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. She was a former Gray Lady (Nurses Aid) and UNICEF volunteer. Mrs. Wolbert and her husband were residing in Alaska when it became the 49th state. Also while in Alaska she was in the Powder Puff Derby racing on ice and won first place. Mrs. Wolbert is survived by three daughters, Sharon L. and her husband J. Robert Kidd of Mt. Hope, WV, Lauralee E. Maruski of Dover, and Robin L. Wolbert of West York; four grandchildren, Richard J. Lee, Deborah A. Ward, Deanna L. Maruski, and Derrek S. Maruski; nine great grandchildren, Karin, Brant, Ryan, Sydney, Gabriella, Blayne, Aaron, Alexander, and Teaghan; a brother, Francis C. Maiers of Highland Falls, NY; a sister, Marilyn V. Culpepper of Key West, FL.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald J. Lee and a brother, Frederick C. Maiers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to UNICEF, U.S. Fund for UNICEF, 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038
