Molly M. Coopey

Molly M. Coopey, 96, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Larksville on March 5, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Adolf and Ernestine (Sonnberg) Lemke. Molly enjoyed gardening. She especially loved her roses which she tended every day. She also enjoyed making rice pudding and baking anise cookies from her mother’s recipe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred J. Coopey; her siblings Olga, Mary, Bertha, Gustav , an infant and Adeline Lemke, Freda Klehm, Edith Thomas, Jula Thomas, Frank, William and Louis Lemke. Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Coopey; Allen “Al” “Red” Coopey; Wilfred “Bill” Coopey; daughter Marjorie “Margie” Hashagen; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Reginald Thomas officiating.
