YORK- Miriam P. “Mim” (Fife) Gemmill, 95, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at her residence. She is the wife of E. Eugene “Gene” Gemmill. The couple celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on November 22, 2017. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with an Amaranth Service at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will also be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, prior to the service. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main Street in Dallastown. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Miriam was born in York on August 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Winfield R. and Emma (Shirey) Fife. She was associated with Fife’s Food Market in Dallastown and later became co-owner. She served as Judge of elections in Dallastown 1st District for many years. Miriam was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown, serving in many capacities. She was a member of Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court #106 Order of Amaranth and a past Matron of the Court. She was also a charter member of Rainbow Chapter #517 Order of the Eastern Star. Miriam served as secretary of Dallastown Golden Age Club, and was a member of York Twinning Association for many years. She previously taught the children’s department of Dallastown Trinity Church for many years and was a member and past President of the Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed travelling in many countries and islands of the world and visited parts of every continent except Asia. In addition to her husband, Gene, she leaves, a daughter, Suzanne L. Robertson and her husband Mark of York; a granddaughter, Michelle R. Wilhelm and her husband Bryan of York; two great-granddaughters, Brianna and Rachel Wilhelm, two step granddaughters, Stephanie Robertson of North Carolina and Chris Pasula of California, a step grandson, David Robertson of North Carolina; and six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Donald Fife; and a sister, Helen Ehrhart. The family would like to thank the staff of Memorial White Rose Hospice, and the numerous caregivers for their love and compassionate care given to Miriam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313 or Memorial White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Avenue York, PA 17403.
