YORK- Miriam R. “Mim” (Depew) Barrett, 81, died on Monday, October 13, 2014 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Wilmer C. Barrett to whom she was married for 30 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd.., York with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Born on March 21, 1933 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Louise (Miller) Depew. Mim was a barmaid for several places throughout Columbia and York. Mrs. Barrett was a member of the South End Democratic Club and the West York VFW Post #8951. She was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State football fan. She loved traveling to the beach and enjoyed the water. Mim was a people person who could talk to anyone. Most importantly, her world evolved around her family. Along with her husband, Wilmer, Miriam is survived by one son, Martin Bigler, Jr. of Columbia; six daughters, Margie Keefer and her husband, Tom, Mary Jackson, Mindy Flinchbaugh, Mim Waltimyer and her husband, Terry, Martiann Landis and her husband, Brian and Jennifer Markle, all of York; three step sons, Wilmer Jr., Nicholas and Theodore; five step daughters, Theresa, Sherry, Melissa, Jacquline and Clarissa; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Brandi, Matthew, Jessica, Todd, Ryan, Cody, Nathan, Madison, Melissa, Mindy and Mandy; 21 stepgrandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way; 13 step great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Gainer of Mountville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Robin; two brothers; and eight sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Miriam’s memory.
