Miriam E. Young

McElhattan - Miriam E. Young, 86 died Friday, February 27, 2009 at her residence. She was born October 17, 1922 in McElhattan the daughter of Rollie & Louise (Swartz) Shadle. Miriam was married on October 24, 1942 to Clarence L. Young and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary together. She worked as a seamstress for Woolrich and Bobbie Brooks and also at the former Slipper Factory in Williamsport. Miriam was a member of McElhattan United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, canning and was an avid reader. Surviving are her loving husband, three daughters Miriam M. Pletcher, Violet (Rodney) Englert both of McElhattan also Tara Young of Danville. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Daniel Shadle of McElhattan and a sister Alma Bauman of Lock Haven also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Clarence, Jr. a daughter Rebecca Shadle and four sisters and six brothers. The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with the Rev. Marian K. Anderson officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral chapel from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday. Memorial contributions can be made to the McElhattan United Methodist Church, P.O.
