WILLIAMSPORT - Miriam E. Painter, 90, a former resident of 798 W. Edwin St., died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Williamsport Home where she resided since last April. She was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Harry S. and Pearl (Ploof) Painter. She was employed by The First National Bank in Williamsport and later by Fidelity Bank, where she retired from in 1983 after 44 years of banking. Miriam was a longtime member of Covenant Central Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir and was a valued soloist. She was a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School. A sister, Lucile Marsh, of Sun City, Ariz. and two nephews, Darrell Canfield and Everett Canfield, also two nieces, Barbara Canfield and Diane Champlin, survive Miriam. Two sisters, Dorothy Snyder and Geraldine Canfield, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, in the chapel at Covenant Central Presbyterian Church, 807 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Paul Doriani officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Covenant Central Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private at Wildwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
