YORK-Minister Irving Earl Johnson, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Lottie M. Johnson. A Funeral Service will be 11a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Maranatha Church of God in Christ, 116 South West Street in York, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. at the church. The Reverend Rachel J. Baxter will be officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Minister Johnson was born in Savannah, GA on January 15, 1923, a son of the late Bertha (Williams) Johnson. He worked for American Chain and Cable Company in York. He was a member of Unity Church of God in Christ in York and was a US Army veteran who served in WWII. Minister Johnson leaves a son, Earl D. Johnson of Gilbert, AZ, four daughters: Linda Giddins of Dallas, TX, Marsha L. Johnson of York, Tonda Johnson of Baltimore, MD, and Deirdre L. Johnson of York, 7 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a brother, Norman Williams of Mesa, CA, a sister, Louise Dunker of Staten Island, NY and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell and two sisters: Viola and Georgia Mae.
