YORK- Miles J. Mackin, 60, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011 at York Hospital. Services for Mr. Mackin are private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Mr. Mackin was born on December 17, 1950 in Baltimore, a son of the late Henry O. and Jeanne (Kiehnne) Mackin. Mr. Mackin served our country for three years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. As a Medical Corpsman he achieved the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal, which were rare for his title. He also received the Republic of Vietnam Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation. Miles was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Colts fan. He was an excellent pool player and avid golfer. Most importantly, he adored all of his nieces and nephews. Mr. Mackin is survived by a brother, Robert Mackin and his wife, Joan of York; two nephews, Michael and Jonathan; a niece, Catherine; and their children, Lincoln, 15, Sierra, 9, Ava,7, Gina, 2, Madison, 8, Logan, 6, and Ethan, 4. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Ln., York, PA 17404.
