Mildred V. (Hoffnagle) Mitzel

RED LION- Mildred V. (Hoffnagle) Mitzel, 93, also known as “Dolly” or "Millie", died on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Gerald L. Mitzel, who died on July 28, 2010. The couple had been married for 67 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl. Red Lion with her pastor, the Reverend Mitchell M. Galloway officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born on June 15, 1924 in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Horn) Hoffnagle. Millie was an active member of Winterstown United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star, a past Royal Matron of Amaranth Lodge, Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court #106, Red Lion. There was nothing she was more passionate about then her pride for her children and grandchildren. You weren’t in her presence long before any of our accomplishments and her love of us were made well known. Mom was our biggest fan and her belief in us never wavered. Mildred is survived by her children, Bonnie Myers of Stewartstown and Debra Burke of Winterstown; grandchildren, Christi Burke Landis, Duane Burke and Troy Myers; and great grandchildren, Sadie Lin Harner, Sophie Landis, Dawson Myers, Kiley Myers and Sierra Rayne Burke. She was preceded in death by her son A2C Lonny L. Mitzel, who served and died in Vietnam; grandson, Spencer Burke; and her siblings, Charles Hoffnagle, Jr., Viola Buckingham, Ida McSwine and Grace Behrensen. God looked upon his garden and saw an empty place. He then looked down upon us and saw her tired face. He put his arms around her and lifted her to rest. God’s Garden must be beautiful now, for he only takes the best. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Winterstown United Methodist Church, 12184 Winterstown Rd., Felton, PA 17322.
