Mildred Meta Williams

Mildred Meta (Lingertot) Williams, 98, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Wesley Village. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 9, 1915 she was a daughter of the late Emil and Mary (Davis) Lingertot. Mildred was a loving housewife who was dedicated to raising her family. She also worked at Educational Testing Service and ran her own business as a beautician. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Tunkhannock, a long time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a 40 year member of Hope Lutheran Church, Levittown, PA. Mildred was very active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Mildred loved playing bunko and cards. She was also an excellent baker and cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Williams, Sr., 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Left to honor her memory are sons, James R. Williams, Jr. and wife, Ruth, Levittown, PA, Wayne Williams and wife, Joan, Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Cheryl Winder, James R. Williams, III, Amy Kojola, Christine Sauerbry, Dawn Whirlow, Laura, Craig and Matthew Williams; and 10 great-grandchildren. A service celebrating Mildred’s life will be held Monday at 11 A.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre with Pastor Murray Brindle officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may visit Sunday afternoon from 2-5 P.M. and Monday morning from 10-11 A.M. Pastor Murray Brindle will be officiating.
