Mildred L. Newcomer

RED LION - Mildred L. (Eppley) Newcomer, 88, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Manor Care - Dallastown. She was the wife of the late Mervin E. Newcomer. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion with her pastor, The Rev. Ronald L. Doverspike officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born August 23, 1929 in Winterstown, a daughter of the late Evans L. and Mary H. (Rhodes) Eppley, she had worked for Standard Register Co., Yorkraft Inc., and later retired from Genesis Christian Book Store. Mrs. Newcomer was a longtime member of Bethany U.M. and its Four Folds Friends Sunday school class. She had also been a member of White Rose Polka Dancer’s Assoc., a Bunko club, Lunch Bunch and other lunch clubs and had previously served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 29. Millie was an avid reader and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time around her family. Mrs. Newcomer is survived by a son, Brad E. and wife Gretchen Newcomer of York; a daughter, Shannon K. Mayes of Red Lion; two grandsons, Anthony W. Mayes, II and wife Lauren and Brandon M. Mayes and wife Dawn; two great grandchildren, Decker Handlir and Parker Mayes; a sister in law, Mary Ann Newcomer and niece, Charisse Rossi both of New Jersey; and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Dana E. Rexroth; a son in law, Anthony W. Mayes; and a brother in law, Marlyn Newcomer. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany U.M., 121 W.
