LOCK HAVEN- -Mildred L. Barnard, age 74, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Sat. March 20, 2010 in Tioga County. She was born in Hughesville on Sept. 5, 1935, daughter of the late Britton and Emma (Markle) Walters. Mildred worked as a nursing assistant at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte, and formerly at Valley Manufacturing in Millheim and Woolrich Co. She was protestant by faith, was an avid crossword puzzle worker, loved sewing and cooking, and enjoyed helping other people. Mildred loved family time especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy N. Barnard in 1998 and three brothers. Surviving are her sons: David C. Barnard of Lock Haven, Donald L. Barnard of Port Matilda, and Michael L. Barnard Sr. of Loganton,, daughters: Debra K. (Greg) Conway of Loganton and Diane M. (Shane) McKinley of Renovo. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brothers: Roy Walters, GordonWalters, and Tom Walters all of Picture Rocks, Joe Walters of Hughesville, and Robert Walters of Muncy, sisters: Shirley Houseknecht of Picture Rocks, and Doris Gorg and Brenda Whipple both of Muncy and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall at 7:00 P.M. Thursday with Pastor Brenda Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Private family interment will be in Tylersville Union Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Clinton County Heart Assoc. or Diabetes Association.
