TROY-Mildred I. (Packard) Wright, age 102, of Troy, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Troy Community Hospital with her family and friends by her side. Family and friends are welcome to call from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday night August 28, 2007 and again Wednesday morning, August 29th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Troy; 205 Reddington Ave., Troy, PA. The funeral service with follow the viewing Wednesday morning, June 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the church with Mildred's pastor and friend, Rev. Richard Noggle officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the East Canton Cemetery. The Vickery Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Mildred was born in Alba, PA, on September 8, 1904, daughter of the late Ardell and Alice (Cole) Packard. Mildred was the wife of the late Floyd Wright who passed away on February 15, 1990. She graduated from Mansfield Normal School in 1923 and was a teacher for 38 years mostly in the Troy area, but also for 9 years in Leroy, PA and 2 years in the Sayre Junior High School. Mildred was an over 60 year member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Troy, PA and held many offices in the church. She was an over 69 year member of the National Grange and was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mildred was also a member of the State and National School Retirees, a member of the Bradford-Sullivan chapter of retired teachers, and was a member of Kappa Gamma. Mildred enjoyed a long retirement, which involved volunteer work, trips, many friends and numerous hobbies. Mildred is survived by her sister-in-law Gertrude (Shedden) Wright of East Canton, her niece Janice (Charles) Lowry of Absecon, NJ, her nephews: Lyle (Laureen) Wright of East Canton, PA, Harry (Loraine) Wright of Milan, PA, and Ron (Kim) Wright of Dauphin, PA, 10 grand nieces and nephews, many close cousins and special friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers: Edwin and George Packard. Contributions may be made in Mildred's name to the First United Methodist Church of Troy; 205 Reddington Ave., Troy, PA 16947.
