WRIGHTSVILLE – Mickie R. Singer, 63, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of Robert D. Withers to whom she was married for 18 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be announced at a later date. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born October 6, 1952 in Cincinnati, OH a daughter of the late Maxwell and Jean (Runkin) Singer, she earned her undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Education from University of Cincinnati. During her career, Mrs. Singer taught at both Univ. of Cincinnati and Penn State – York; was a writer for the York Dispatch Newspaper; was a teacher at Spring Grove High School, and worked for York Co. Mental Health Assoc. Mickie was passionate about Mental Health issues and started numerous women’s groups that were dedicated to her cause. She was an avid painter, writer, and singer. Mickie enjoyed making crafts, writing and was a published author. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel and Wrightsville Historical Society. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Singer is survived by a son, David B. and wife Leslie Werner of York; a stepdaughter, Wendy S. McMullen of Lititz; a stepson, Jeremy S. Withers of Ephrata; two grandchildren, Jacqueline L. McMullen of Las Vegas and Jordan L. McMullen of Manheim; a Werner grandchild to be born soon; and two brothers, Jonathan I. Singer of Cincinnati and Barry F. Singer of Arizona.
