WELLSBURG- Mickey R. Halstead, 95, of Centerville, PA, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 Strait’s Personal Care Home surrounded by her family. Mickey was the loving wife of the late Bernard H. Halstead who passed away April 26, 1986. The couple married November 12, 1938 and had 47 happy years together. Mickey was born on April 9, 1918 in Town of Ashland, Chemung County, NY, daughter of the late Chester and Minnie (Small) Goodrich. Mickey and Bernard had a farm for many years and Mickey also worked at Rosenbalm’s and Iszard’s Department Stores. She attended the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church and then the Bentley Creek Baptist Church. Mickey was a member of the Gladys Burnham Elementary School PTA, the Centerville Community Club, the Bentley Creek Ladies Auxiliary, the local Grange, and was a member of the widows group at the Bentley Creek Baptist Church. One of her passions in life was golf and she was a lifelong member of Pinecroft Golf Course. She enjoyed reading and was a strong supporter of the Bradford County Bookmobile. Mickey is survived by her children: Daniel (Marie) Halstead of Union Springs, NY, Pat (Jerry) Anthony and Kathy (Dale) Schrader, both of Centerville, PA, her son-in-law Doug Vidic of Kylertown, PA, twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard, her daughter Eileen Vidic, and her eight brothers and sisters. Family and friends may call from 3:00-6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY. The memorial service to honor Mickey’s life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29th at the funeral home with Rev. James Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Hanlon Hill Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Memorial may be made in Mickey’s memory to the Bradford County Bookmobile, 16093 Route 6 Troy, PA 16947.
