Michelle L. Smoker

EAST PROSPECT - Michelle L. Smoker, 29, died at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at York Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. She was the wife of Daniel R. Smoker. Following cremation, a service to celebrate Michelle's life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her father-in-law, the Rev. Robert Smoker, pastor of Susquehanna Grace Brethren Church, officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Michelle was born August 12, 1979, in York. She was the daughter of Larry L. and Jane A. (Rexroth) Shoemaker of Windsor. She was a 1997 graduate of Red Lion Area High School where she was a member of the school's Field Hockey and Girls Soccer teams. She was also a former Assistant Coach for the school's Junior High Field Hockey team. Michelle earned her Associates Degree in Business Marketing and later, in 2008 received her Bachelor's Degree in the same field from York College. She enjoyed athletics and traveling and along with her husband was an avid snowboarder and also loved going to the beach to surf. She attended Bridgeway Community Church and worked as a Bike Assembler at Harley Davidson. In addition to her husband and parents, Michelle leaves her sister, Jennifer L. Lenig and husband, Nate of Halifax; her maternal grandparents, Vernon and Yvonne Rexroth of Windsor; her paternal grandmother, Madylin H. Shoemaker of Windsor; four nieces; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Lawrence "Sonny" Shoemaker. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 724 S. George St., York, PA 17403.
