Michele R. (Gowin) Ross

TROY- Michele R. (Gowin) Ross, 46, of Troy, PA went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 5, 2013 from her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Jerry D. Ross, Jr. The couple married June 29, 1996 and had 16 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Michele’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Fellowship Bible Church, 121 Mudcreek Road Troy, PA with her pastor, Rev. Mark Steckiel officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of Michele’s family in Glenwood Cemetery. Michele was born on September 4, 1966 in Towanda, PA daughter of the late John Gowin and Doris Gowin of Leroy, PA. She was a 1984 graduate of Canton High School where she was a cheerleader, and was the Canton representative for Laurel Queen in Wellsboro. She was part of the Cosmetology Department of the VoTech and had many wonderful memories of the bus rides down to Williamsport for classes. After high school Michele worked for Oak Hill Veneer in Troy for 22 years. She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church, was a cheerleading coach for Troy Jr. football for 5 years, was deeply involved in Troy’s girls softball, and enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She was an inspiration to all in the community as she fought cancer. Michele is survived by her husband Jerry, her mother Doris, her son Cpl. Jeremy J. (Rachal) Martin of Jacksonville, NC, her daughters: Jerilyn L. Ross at home, and Jessica M. (Matt) Hamilton of Virginia, her granddaughter Madalynn B. Hamilton, her brothers: Brian (Shelly) Gowin of Canton, Michael (Amy) Gowin and Byron (Melissa) Gowin, both of Granville, her in-laws Jerry and Elsie Ross, Sr. of Troy, and several nieces and nephews. Her father John Gowin preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be made in Michele’s memory to the Fellowship Bible Church, 121 Mudcreek Road Troy, PA 16947.
