Felton—Michele Irene (Lighty) Folkenroth, 64, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Daniel A. Folkenroth to whom she was married for 38 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00PM, Friday, October 27, 2023 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 900 Pleasant Grove Rd, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be the Pastor Terry Robinson. Immediately following the Celebration of Life Service everyone is invited to the Chanceford Township Building, 33 Muddy Creek Forks Rd, Brogue for fellowship with dinner. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
Born April 18, 1959 in York, she was the daughter of Delores (Dettinger) Lighty of Brogue and the late Earl Lighty.
A loving and dedicated domestic engineer for her family, she was also a hardworking entrepreneur, who managed her rental properties and repurposed salvaged goods which she sold at Tumbleweeds in Shrewsbury.
She loved spending time with her family, taking trips to the beach, canning vegetables, cooking and baking. Michele was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Red Lion and raised several foster children.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Folkenroth is also survived by two daughters, Danielle N. Dehoff and her husband, Jeremy of Wilson, NC and Angelia R. Leiphart and her husband, Alek of Felton; four grandchildren, Jaidyn, Mason, Oakleigh and Adalee; one brother, Michael Lighty of Leaders Heights; one sister, Bonita Trapnell of Florida and nieces, nephews and other family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make a donation to Ends of the Earth Outreach. A non-profit, that Michele volunteered for and supported. Michele's daughter is a member of the Board. EOE partners with organizations across the globe to provide for various needs. This collaboration allows us to help improve the quality of life for those undergoing hardship. Examples include sending field workers, digging wells for impoverished communities, supporting orphans, and general humanitarian aid.
