DOVER- Michael S. James, 75, died on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Manor Care North. He was the husband of Esther M. (Lehman) James to whom he was married for 26 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Jessica R. Smith officiating. A visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born on October 20, 1942 in York, he was the son of the late Stanley and Clara (Sultner) James. Michael graduated from Parsons College. He taught at York High School, was a salesman for Ryder Trucking where he received the Round Table Gold Coat Award for being a top ten salesman in the United States and most recently was a substitute teacher for Dover Area School District. Mr. James was a member of Vikings Athletic Association, Hawk Gunning Club, Vigilant Social Club, West York VFW Post 8951, Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and the York Y’s Men’s Club where he was the racquetball champion for six years. Michael was an avid Penn State and Baltimore Orioles fan and loved traveling, especially to St. Thomas 19 years in a row. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Along with his wife, Esther, Michael leaves two sons, Kent James and wife, Gwenn of York and Scott James and wife, Jackie of York; one daughter, Danielle Foster and husband, David of Chesapeake, VA; stepdaughter, Vickie Glatfelter and husband, Bob of Dover; six grandchildren, Kayla Glatfelter, Lexy Brown, Madison James, Hailey James, Gabriel James and Colin Foster; and his great grandson, Keylin Glatfelter. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Bobby Glatfelter, III. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Not One More, York Chapter, 320 Loucks Rd., Suite 103, York, PA 17404.
