Michael D. "Mick" McClurg, Sr.

MANCHESTER- Michael D. “Mick” McClurg, Sr., 75, died on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Deborah A. (Day) McClurg to whom he was married for 56 years. The couple wed on March 2, 1968.

Born on June 28, 1949 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Walter P. and June (Wevodau) McClurg. He was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School. Mick formerly worked at Swartz Supply Co. in Harrisburg and later owned and operated Mike McClurg Plumbing & Remodeling until his retirement.

Mick enjoyed hunting, golfing and woodworking. He especially enjoyed making furniture and gifts for his family and friends, however his greatest joy was being a Pappy.

Along with his wife, Deb, Michael is survived by his son, Michael D. McClurg, Jr. and his wife, Michele of Harrisburg; daughter, Pam L. Ottey and her husband, Bud of York; four grandchildren, Kelsey McClurg, Ryan Ottey and his girlfriend, Morgan Golden, Samantha McClurg and Meghan Ottey; great grandson, Malcolm Waltman; brother, Bruce McClurg and his wife, Linda of Mt. Joy; and sister, Kas Maddich and her husband, Nick of Brownsville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel McClurg.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito officiating, along with Pastor Will Douglas. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
