RED LION – Michael Lee Kessler, 70, passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 17, 2023, surrounded by those he held most dear. He was the husband of Karen D. (Gold) Kessler to whom he would have been married for 50 years this June.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. David Tietje officiating. Mike’s Tribute Service will be webcast on his obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com
Born September 23, 1952 in York, Mike was a son of the late Gale and Vivian (Miller) Kessler. He grew up in Windsor and was a 1970 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School. Mike was an operations manager and mentor to many at Caterpillar Inc., for 36 years until his retirement.
Along with his wife Karen, Mike is survived by his daughter, Erica Francia and son-in-law Ed; cherished grandchildren, Brielle and Cole; siblings, Michele (Ron) Deitz, Kimberly (Randy) Barnhart, Scott (Jimmy Duckett) Kessler, and Steven (Bonnie) Kessler; aunts, Pat Minnich and Kay Senft; uncle David Miller; beloved cousins, nieces, nephews; and countless friends that have become family.
Family, friends, and vacations filled Mike’s life with joy. When he wasn’t proudly supporting his grandchildren’s activities or traveling the Caribbean with special friends; he could be found tending the flower beds at both his home and his daughters, or enjoying Penn State and Steelers football.
Mike was an ever-present supporter of his granddaughter Brielle’s passion and work with equine rescues. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mike to Safe Haven Equine Warriors, 12565 Indian Hill Dr., Sykesville, MD 21784 or at www.safehavenequinewarriors.org
Mike’s family would like to thank his care team at ProMedica (formerly Heartland) Hospice for their care and compassion during Mike’s last week, in the comfort of his own home.
