Michael L. "Digger" Smith

WINDSOR – Michael L. “Digger” Smith, 67, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Susan E. (Kline) Smith with whom he celebrated 33 years of marriage.

Born November 22, 1955 in York, a son of Gary and wife Nancy Smith of Red Lion and the late Lucille (Laucks) Smith; he was a 1974 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. Mr. Smith was Vice President of Fitz & Smith, Inc. where he had worked all of his life. He served on the Board of Trustees for York County Soil & Water Conservation District and was a member of Red Lion BPO Elks. Digger enjoyed working around his farm and loved spending time with his grandson.

Mr. Smith is also survived by a son, Tyler E. and wife Deborah Smith of Windsor; a daughter, Abby J. and husband Paul Clark of Summerville, SC; a grandson, Sullivan Clark; two brothers, Tom and wife Kelly Smith and Tim Smith and his fiancé Lawanna both of York; a sister, Lori and husband Hugh Myers of Red Lion; and numerous nieces and nephews he loved so much.

A Gathering to Celebrate Michael's Life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1-5:00 PM on Digger’s Farm at 1145 White Oak Road, Windsor. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York is in charge of arrangements.
