Michael J. Shaffer

Thomasville-Michael J. Shaffer, 50, died Monday, March 7, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 am, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 N. Sherman Street Extended, Mt. Wolf with the Rev. Laura Bair officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born August 14, 1960 in York, he was the son of Barbara A. (Avis) Rupert of York and the late Ronald J. Shaffer. He was a 1978 graduate of West York High School. He was employed as a forklift operator for several years with various companies. Michael was a member of the Prince Athletic Association, Shiloh American Legion-Post 791, Vigilant Club, Rooster Club and 12th Ward Club. He was a volunteer EMT with the Thomasville Fire Company, preformed community service as CPR Instructor, enjoyed golfing and was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and Penn State Football teams and Jeff Gordon. He is survived by two daughters, Ashley M. Mikos of York and Sara J. Shaffer of Thomasville, five grandchildren, Astrid M. Sheetz, Savana N. Shaffer, Alexander C. Byloff and Taylor M. Mikos, one brother, Martin K. Shaffer and his wife, Mary of Harpers Ferry, W.Va, three sisters, Cathy S. Henry of York, Linda L. Hively and her husband, Morgan of Dover and Tammy L. Duke of York, several nieces and nephews and other loving family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aspen R. Shaffer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Shaffer Memorial Fund, C/O Fulton Bank, 1500 Kenneth Rd, York, Pa 17408. Contributions may also be dropped off at any Fulton Bank Branch Office.
