WINDSOR - Michael E. Runkle and Tanya S. (Royston) Runkle, both 49, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Michael and Tanya were married 31 years on March 11, 2009. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be held from 12-3:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Runkle was born September 14, 1960 in York Hospital a son of Carl Runkle, Sr. and Rose (Kohler) Runkle of Wrightsville. Michael was a 1978 graduate of Eastern York High School and worked as co-superintendant of Cool Creek Country Club. He was a member of Hawks Gunning Club and the American Legion. Mrs. Runkle was born September 16, 1960 in York Hospital a daughter of Richard and Erma (Snell) Royston of Red Lion. She also worked at Cool Creek Country Club as a horticulturalist. Tanya enjoyed photography and horseback riding. In addition to working together, Michael and Tanya enjoying each other's company while hunting and riding motorcycles along with their family. Mr. and Mrs. Runkle are survived by a son, Michael A. Runkle and fianc裠Melissa A. Spera of Lewisberry, and Melissa's sons, Daniel Waltemyer and Andrew Houseal. In addition to his parents, Mr. Runkle is survived by two brothers, Carl Runkle, Jr. of Hellam and Steve Runkle of Wrightsville; and a sister, Sharon Walters of York. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Runkle is survived by two brothers, Shane Royston of Windsor and Ritchie Royston of Red Lion; and two sisters, Angela (Royston) Stavis and Roxanne (Royston) Grove both of Red Lion. Since their birth in York Hospital two days apart and later becoming a couple at age 15, Mike and Tanya have been together 34 of their 49 years of life. "Even death could not keep true love apart."
