HANOVER- Michael David Baker, 55, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 9, 2024 at Salem Christian Church, 24 Franklin Street in Jacobus. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Michael was born in Baltimore on June 18, 1968, a son of Elizabeth E. “Betty” Baker of Oceanview, DE and the late James Joseph Baker, Sr. He retired from General Motors and worked for the Baltimore and Delaware Plants. He was a member of the UAW, United Auto Workers Union.
Michael was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover. He volunteered for the church and for their food bank as well for various SPCA locations. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed collecting antiques, especially bottles.
Along with his mother, Michael leaves two sons, Aaron Baker and his wife Kerstin of Hellam and Andrew Baker of Harrisburg; two brothers, James J. Baker, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Red Lion and Daniel S. Baker and his wife Linda of Hedgesville, WV; an uncle Jerry Jacynski and an uncle Bob Baker and his wife Kathy, an aunt Barbara Herzog and her husband Dennis, and an aunt Pat Baker.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut St., Hanover, PA 17331.
