Mervin K. Stanton, Jr.

WELLSBURG, NY - Mervin K. Stanton, Jr. Age 50, of 98 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Merv was born June 7, 1961 in Elmira, NY son of Mervin K. Stanton, Sr. and the late Barbara P. (Lynch) Stanton. He was a 1980 graduate of Southside High School. Merv and the former Michelle L. Pallone-Smith were married on December 5, 1998 in Lowman, NY. Merv was employed as a Union Mason and worked on many local construction projects. Although he was a mason by trade Merv was a very talented man and could do anything when it comes to the construction trades. He was a life member of the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Dive Team Member and Rescue Swimmer, past Fire Commissioner and was a Member of the Masons Union Local #3. He will be missed deeply by his loving family and by the Wellsburg Community. Survivors include his loving wife of 13 years Michelle L. Stanton of Wellsburg, daughter, Melissa (Daniel Manchester) Stanton of Elmira, sons, Daniel (Danelle) Stanton, Matthew Peterson, Austin Stanton, his father Mervin “Wiff” Stanton, Sr. all of Wellsburg, two grandchildren, brothers, Scott (Kim) Stanton of Wellsburg, Lawrence (Tonja) Stanton of Benton, PA, Jennings B. “JB” (Sarah) Stanton of Lowman, sisters, Robin (John “Mike”) McCoy, Bernadette Stanton, Maureen (Mike VanGalder) Bellgraph all of Wellsburg, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Mervin was predeceased by his mother Barbara Stanton on June 16, 2006 and his infant sister Colleen Stanton on February 20, 1970. Family and friends are invited to call Friday, May 25, 2012 from 4 to 6 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. His service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY.
