Merella K. (Bauman) Gingerich

LAMAR - Merella K. (Bauman) Gingerich, 77, passed away, Monday, November 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born March 5, 1936 in Lock Haven the daughter of the late Sylvester and Alma (Shadle) Bauman. Merella was married on May 5, 1957 to Samuel W. Gingerich. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together. She worked in housekeeping at Lock Haven Hospital retiring in 1997. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and pool. She attended the Salvation Army and First Baptist Church of Lock Haven. Surviving are her loving husband, three sons Raymond H. Houtz of Lamar, Samuel W. Gingerich, Jr., of Jersey Shore and George E. (Kimberly) Gingerich of Mill Hall. Four daughters Judy K. Bennett of Jersey Shore, Tammy J. (Dale) Wynn of Lock Haven, Teri A. (Willard) Kerns of Ridgeley, W. VA and Annette D. (Patrick) Calhoon of Lamar. 33 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Five brothers Sylvester (Vicky) Bauwman of Avis, Jack (Wanda) Bauman of Jersey Shore, Gene Bauman of Mankato, Kansas, Regan Bauman of Williamsport and Harry Bauman of Lock Haven. One sister Anna Shearer of Lock Haven. A sister Sylvia Zipeto preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with The Venerable Canon Daniel L. Selvage of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
