RED LION- Melvin R. Stevens, 77 passed away Tuesday January 27, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret A. (Shoemaker) Stevens. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00AM Monday, February 2, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00AM Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be held at 1:00PM Monday in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore. Born on March 20, 1931 in Baltimore, MD, a son to the late Clyde and Edith (McGown) Stevens, he retired after 30 years at Bethlehem Steel Co. Mr. Stevens was a member of the Bethlehem Steel Workers Union 2809 & 2810 in Dundalk, where he served as Union Steward. He enjoyed working with his hands in his garden and making crafts. Mr. Stevens was a US Navy veteran having served on the air craft carrier USS Midway during the Korean War. Mr. Stevens is survived by two sons, Michael P. and his wife Cheryl Stevens of Parkton, MD and Donald A. and his wife Vycky Stevens of Red Lion; two daughters Sharon M. Donagher and her companion Monica Anderson of York and Theresa K. and her husband Richard Cushing of Churchville, MD; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
