Maynard L. Bodine

CHEMUNG, NY- Maynard L. Bodine, 75, of Chemung, NY, passed away February 24, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was the loving husband of Patricia J. (Wilcox) Bodine. The couple married August 29, 1970 and had 38 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2008 and again on Saturday, February 28th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. The memorial service to celebrate Maynard's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Chemung Cemetery. Maynard was born on July 31, 1933 in Sayre, PA and spent all of his life living in Chemung, NY. He was the son of the late Eli H. and Edith E. (Lenox) Bodine, Sr. Maynard is a United States Air Force veteran; he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Maynard was a long time mechanic in the Chemung County, NY area. He first worked with family in Bodine Brothers Motors in Chemung and later became owner/operator of Bodine Automotive in Elmira. Many remember him as the head mechanic for the Bodine Brothers Racing Team, and later for the Bryan Osgood Race Team. Maynard was Protestant by faith. Maynard's family includes his wife Pat, his sisters Lucile Ellis of Chemung, NY and Sarah Monell of Cato, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Milton, Eli Jr., Jimmy, and Earl, and his sisters Jeanette, Marion, and Lois.
