May R. (Snyder) Fulford

TROY-May R. (Snyder) Fulford, 79, of Troy, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Robert Packer Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert B. Fulford, II who passed away in 1989. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Fair Mount Cemetery, 233 Hillside Ave. Chatham, NJ 07928 at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday May 31, 2007 for a graveside funeral service. Rev. Jason Haddox will be officiating. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. May was born on August 13, 1927 in New Vernon, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Abram Lloyd and Lulu (Taylor) Snyder. May's life was spent caring for others. She worked for the Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Plains, NJ, where she cared for Karen Ann Quinlan. Miss Quinlan was an important figure in United States history over the "right to die" legal and ethical debate. May also worked for the Glenora Nursing Home in Chester, NJ, and for the Martha Lloyd Community in Troy, PA, from where she retired in 1995. When May was a young woman she was asked to be a leg model for a popular ladies hosiery company because her legs looked like those of Betty Grable's. She promptly turned the company down on their offer because "being a leg model is not something a mother of three should do". May was protestant by faith. May's family was the love of her life. They include her daughters Mae (Mark) Jennings of Troy, PA, and Barbara (Oliver) Crisp, Jr. of Granville Summit, PA, her son Robert B. (Linda) Fulford, III of Gillett, PA, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Her family also includes her brother Harry (Beverly) Snyder of Missouri and sisters Dorothy (John) Roff of Randolph, NJ and Margaret (Elmer) Hendershot of Whippany, NJ, along with several nieces and nephews. May was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Abram and David Snyder. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the May Fulford Memorial Fund c/o Barbara Crisp RD 1 Box 127-A Granville Summit, PA 16926.
