LEWISBERRY-Maxine C. (Schaffner) Knaub, 82, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dean H. Knaub. A visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street in Lewisberry. Interment of the ashes will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Mrs. Knaub was born in York on July 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Bessie W. (Witmer) Schaffner of York Haven. Mrs. Knaub moved to Lewisberry following her marriage and raised her family there. Over the years she volunteered for many nonprofit organizations and enjoyed many hobbies such as reading, crafting, and baking/cake decorating. She had a great love of animals and found feeding the wild birds around her home especially delightful. In recent years she became known as “ Grammy” to her family; She was happiest when surrounded by them. Mrs. Knaub was a member of the former Ambassador Bible Chapel in Manchester. Mrs. Knaub leaves two daughters, Penny L. Resh of New Cumberland and Betsy M. Messner and her husband David of Etters; four grandchildren, Jason Shaub, Alesha Tunstall, Rusty Resh, and Randy Resh; six great grandchildren: Jillian Tunstall, Nate Tunstall, Marlin Shaub, Garrett Shaub, Riley Resh, and Ryder Resh. She was preceded in death by a son, Rickie E. Knaub and a great granddaughter, Makayla Lee Shaub. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
