Maude E. (Labezius) Dickens

York—Maude E. (Labezius)Dickens, 90, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at York Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Village at Sprenkle Drive. She was the wife of the late Alfred D. Dickens. A celebration of life service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with her pastor, the Rev. Jeffrey S. Swanger officiating. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. Mrs. Dickens was born June 3, 1917 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Harry and Nora E. (Stokes) Labezius. She was employed with the former Doe Spun as a utility girl for 10 years, until her retirement in 1984. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in York, she also had passion for traveling and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Mrs. Dickens is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Russell, Charles, Merle and Howard and four sisters, Anna, Florence, Hazel and Isabel.
