POTTSVILLE- Matthew J. Adams, 71, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday at Schuylkill Medical Center, South Jackson Street, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on July 10, 1941, he was a son of the late Matthew and Frances Guetling Adams. Matt graduated in 1959 from Pottsville High School. He then entered the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Lance Corporal. Matt worked for many years as a butcher at the former Covach’s Food Market, Yorkville, he worked several different jobs after Covach’s closed and he was currently employed by Lowe’s Distribution Center, Highridge Park, where he has been employed for the past ten years. He was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church, Schuylkill Haven, where he was a board member. He was past Exhaulted Ruler of the former Elks, Pottsville, he was also a member of the former American Legion, member of Yorkville Hose Co No.1, both of Pottsville, a member of the former 40 & 8, Cressona. He enjoyed playing Pinnacle, hunting and riding his motorcycle in his younger years. He loved to tease everyone he came in contact with, especially his family, which meant everything to him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Edna Borrero. Matt is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Clark Adams, of Pottsville, to whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on Saturday, July 21st; his son Matthew J. Adams, husband of Roberta, of Pottsville; his two daughters, Maureen E. Campbell, wife of Doug, of Schuylkill Haven and Corinne Rodenroth, of Orwigsburg; his eight grandchildren, Veronica Forry, Katrina Noecker, Audra Mack, Tyler Campbell, Courtney and Amanda Adams and Jessica and Paul Rhein; his great granddaughter, Mckenzie Kline; his brother, Francis “Frank” Adams, husband of Jackie, of Winter Spring, FL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. at Calvary United Pentecostal Church, 21 Dock Street, Schuylkill Haven. Pastor Gary Shaffer will officiate. Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.at the church and on Wednesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
