Matilda P. Alabek

CARLISLE, PA - Matilda P. (Ragusky) Alabek, 92, formerly of Port Carbon, Schuylkill Co., passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of Joseph F. Alabek to whom she was married for 67 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle with her priest, The Reverend Don Bender officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Tuesday in the Activity Center of the Church. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road York is in charge of arrangements. Born March 17, 1924 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill Co., a daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Jogalis) Ragusky, she retired from Howells Tire Service in Pottsville. Mrs. Alabek was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle and St. Casimir Catholic Church in Saint Clair, Schuylkill Co. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and word finds, shopping, playing solitaire, and friendly card games with her family. Mrs. Alabek is survived by her daughter, Donna A. Benion and husband Harry of Mechanicsburg; a son, Joseph F. Alabek, Jr. and wife Judy of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Jason Benion and wife Rachael, Scott Benion, Angela Nelson and husband Patrick, Joey and Michelle Alabek, and Bethany Wink and husband CJ; and three great grandchildren, Roland and Rhys Benion and Joey Alabek. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Raymond Ragusky; and a sister, Anna Dombrosky.
