Mary K. Wynegar

YORK – Mary K. (Sheets) Wynegar, 74, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Providence Place Senior Living of Dover. She was the wife of the late George D. “Danny” Wynegar, Sr. to whom she was married 44 years before his passing in 2014.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. with Pastor Frank Miller officiating the service. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2025 and 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Born March 18, 1950 in Tunnelton, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George and Argyle E. (Grimm) Sheets. Mrs. Wynegar attended West York Area High School and later worked as a waitress for many years at various restaurants such as Jay’s and Manchester Café. For most of her working life, she worked as a CNA at Margaret E. Moul Home, where she later retired. In her free time, she enjoyed watching baseball, reading, spending time with neighborhood friends, and most of all, loved spending her life with her late husband Danny and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her two sons, Scott Wynegar and his wife Stephanie and David Wynegar and his wife Heather; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Rick, Devon, and Chelsea Wynegar, Sarah Rishel, Kyle, Mackenzi, and Riley Wynegar; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Knaub and her husband Rodney and Pat Hershey and her husband Ronald; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by siblings Georg Sheets and Rosalie Shoff.
