Mary R. (Steel) Waltemyer

YORK – Mary R. (Steel) Waltemyer, 87, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Russell D. Waltemyer, Sr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. Patricia C. Bollinger of Water's Edge United Methodist Church officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-7:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born January 18, 1925 in Whitehall, MD a daughter of the late John and Martha (Brightbill) Steel, she had worked at the former Canning House in Stewartstown and also picked potatoes for Thompson's Farm in Shrewsbury. Mrs. Waltemyer loved completing crossword puzzles, canning food, and enjoyed listening to country and western music along with Elvis. Mrs. Waltemyer is survived by five sons, David L. Waltemyer and companion Paula Grim of Aberdeen, MD, Russell D. Waltemyer, Jr. and wife Ruth of Dallastown, Gerald T. and wife Helen Waltemyer of Columbia, Joseph P. Waltemyer of York, and Daniel G. and wife Donna Waltemyer of Piketon, OH; two daughters, Jane I. and husband Daryl Saylor of Windsor and Joan M. and husband Fred Miller of Glen Rock; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Taylor and Whitey Taylor both of Whitehall, MD; and one sister, Ella Nace of Stewartstown.
